Raita salad is one kind of juicy salad item, prepared to eat heavy and dry type of foods, like biryani, paratha, naan-roti etc. It works as a digestive ingredient while people eat more meat or such heavy foods. In India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, use of raita is a must in almost every kabab shop. Preparation of raita salad is very easy. This is one of the recipes which does not need any heat. However, its main ingredient, i.e. yogurt does the cooking process without external heat. Here I described different types of raita salad recipes. Hope you will enjoy this.

 

Simple raita salad recipe

Ingredients for simple raita

3 cucumbers

½ cup yogurt

1 teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cilantro, sliced

Process for simple raita salad

  • Cut into thin slices of cucumber with a vegetable cutter or food processor into julienne cut.
  • Wrap grated cucumber in a paper towel and squeeze for dry.
  • Whisk yogurt with black pepper and salt.
  • Add cucumber slice and cilantro slice to yogurt mixture.
  • Mix it very well. Keep it in the refrigerator for the chill.
  • Raita salad is ready to serve.
  • Serve the salad as chill.

Mint raita salad

Ingredients for mint salad

  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 tablespoon mint
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds powder

Process for mint raita

  • Cut into thin slices of cucumber with a vegetable cutter into julienne cut.
  • Wrap grated cucumber in a paper towel and squeeze for dry.
  • Paste the mint with a blender.
  • Fry cumin seeds in a non-stick frying pan. When the flavor come up switch off the burner. After cooling grind the seeds.
  • Whisk yogurt with black pepper, mint paste, cumin seeds, and salt.
  • Add cucumber slice to yogurt mixture.
  • Mix it very well. Keep it in the refrigerator for the chill.
  • Mint raita salad is ready to serve.
  • Serve the salad as chill.
