Ingredients for Caramel Apple Cake

  • 1 cup egg whites, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup light margarine, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and sliced


  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup light margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 teaspoons fat-free milk


Step 1

Preheat oven at 350F for 10 minutes. Prepare a 12-inch baking pan with cooking spray and flour; set aside. Peel the apple and slice. Separate the egg whites from egg yolk. Slightly beaten egg whites and keep aside.

Step 2

Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon powder, baking powder, and baking soda in a mixing bowl. In another mixing bowl, combine 3/4 cup margarine, two teaspoons vanilla extract, egg whites, and apples. Mix dry ingredients with wet ingredients just until moistened.

Step 3

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 45 minutes. Then cool upright for 30 minutes; invert onto a serving plate. Meanwhile, to prepare topping, combine powdered sugar, remaining margarine, brown sugar, remaining vanilla extract, and milk. Immediately spoon over cooled cake.

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 whole eggs, slightly beaten

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare a 12″ square dish with cooking spray; set aside. Peel the banana and mash it.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine bananas, milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add dry ingredients and mix well.

Step 3

Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 4

To prepare glaze, combine honey and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix well. Drizzle over warm cake.
