We can eat potatoes in different way. Mashed potato is one of them.  We know potato is very healthy food. This recipe is an easy recipe but healthy. Here I described 3 types of mashed potato recipes in 3 different ways. One is simple and normal and other two are baked in an oven. All of them are tasty and delicious. Hope all of my friends will like these recipes and will try at home.

 The best ever mashed potato

Ingredients

  • 1 kg gold potato
  • 2 cups liquid milk (half and half or light cream)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Process

  • Scrub, peel, and cut potatoes into 1-1/2 inch pieces.
  • Place potatoes, bay leaves, chicken broth, and milk in a saucepan.
  • Reduce the heat after boiling.
  • Simmer and cover with a lid.
  • Cook for 30 minutes or until potatoes is tender.
  • Drain and reserved cooking liquid.
  • Remove the bay leaves by using tongs.
  • Smash potato with potato masher in a large bowl until it is smooth. If you don’t have potato masher don’t worry, use a steel glass. Press the potato with the bottom part of the glass. You will see how easy it is. If there is nothing with you just use your hand for smash the potato.
  • Add 1 cup of reserved cooking liquid, salt, grounded black pepper to the mashed potato.
  • Stir it gently.
  • If necessary, season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Your favorite mashed potato is ready to serve.
  • Serve this as per your choice with chicken or vegetable or fruit or anything.

Cheesy mashed potatoes

Preparation time10 minutes

 Ingredients

  • 500 g potatoes (baking)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika

Process

  • Wash the potatoes.
  • Take the potatoes in a large deep saucepan. Sprinkle with salt.
  • After boiling, reduce the heat.
  • Cover with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.
  • Take out from the burner.
  • Drain and cool slightly.
  • Peel potatoes and grate with a grater.
  • Add butter and cheese to the shred potatoes in a large mixing bowl.
  • Stir it gently. Add chopped onion, pepper, salt, and sour cream to the potato mixture.
  • Greased a casserole with butter.
  • Preheat the oven at 200⁰c for 10 minutes.
  • Bake the mashed potatoes at 180⁰c for 45-50 minutes. Or until brown.
  • Cheesy potato is ready to serve.
  • Before serving, sprinkle with paprika.
  • Serve with any kind of vegetable or chicken.

Mashed potato baked

Preparation time15 minutes
Cooking time1 hour

Ingredients

  • 500g potato
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ½ cup fresh cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Process

  • Boil the potato for 30 minutes with a lid or until tender.
  • Smash the potato with a potato masher.
  • Add milk and butter to the mashed potato. Stir it gently.
  • Then add yogurt, fresh cream, salt, black pepper, and chopped onion to the mashed potato mixture in a large bowl.
  • Stir it gently.
  • Greased a baking dish with butter.
  • Spoon the potato mixture into the baking dish.
  • Preheat the oven at 200⁰c for 10 minutes.
  • Bake the potato at 180⁰c for 40-45 minutes or until the potato mixture is hot.
  • Mashed potato bake is ready to serve.
  • Serve with a vegetable salad or fruit salad as per your choice.
