Different rice recipes: Rice with cabbage

Cabbage comes in different shapes and colors. Here I used white cabbage for rice with cabbage recipe.  It has many health benefits. This recipe has a lot of nutrition value.

Ingredients for rice with cabbage

  • 750g Rice (kalijira or chinigura)
  • 1cup Cabbage (grated)
  • 1cup Coconut (shredded)
  • 5-6 pieces Green chili
  • 3-4 pieces Cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 pieces Cardamom
  • 3 tbsp Onion slice
  • 1/4 cup Clarified butter or Ghee
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic paste
  • 5-6 pieces Bay leaves
  • 6 cups Water
  • Salt- as per taste

Process for rice with cabbage

Step 1

Wash and grate the cabbage with vegetable grater. Stem the cabbage slice with a little bit of salt and water. Rinse very well the cabbage slice and keep it aside.

Step 2

Wash the rice of pulao and rinse the water very well. Keep it aside.

Step 3

Take a deep pan. Put ghee and wait until hot. Add onion slice, ginger paste, garlic paste, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, bay leaves, and salt to the ghee and stir them. After 2-3 minutes add water to the masala. Add rice after boiling the water. Stir the rice and cover with a lid.

Step 4

Open the lid after 10 minutes and add shredded coconut, lemon juice, and cabbage slice to the rice after dry up the water. Turn off the burner and add green chilies and keep it for 5 minutes without beam. Healthy rice with cabbage is ready to serve.

Serve this different rice recipe in a serving dish with chicken curry or beef bhuna and salad.

Ingredients for kashmiri pulao

  • 1 kg Basmati rice
  • 200 gm Oil
  • ½ cup Onion slice
  • 5-6 pieces Cardamom
  • 4 pieces Cloves
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Raisin
  • 2 1/2cups Water
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp Kewra
  • ¼ cup Mawa
  • 1 cup Pineapple slice
  • 250 gm Grape slice
  • ½ cup Pomegranate
  • 1 cup Apple slice
  • 1 cup Orange slice
  • 1/4 cup Cherry slice
  • 1pinch Saffron
  • 1 tbspShahi biryani masala
  • 1/4 cup Clarified butter
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 2-3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup Cashew nut
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Powder milk
  • 1tbsp Rosewater
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

Process for Kashmiri Pulao

Step 1

Wash the basmati rice and soak the rice with Luke warm water. Soak saffron with 2 tbsp milk and cover it.

Step 2

Wash and cut all fruits and keep these in a bowl with one tbsp lemon juice.

Step 3

Put oil and ghee in a deep pan. Add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves to the oil. Fry all ingredients until aroma comes out. Add onion slice and fry until golden. Then add ginger and garlic paste to the ingredients and fry for 1-2 minutes. After that add soaked rice to the masala. Fry the rice for 5 minutes and add powder milk to the rice. Again fry until the rice fried perfectly. Add hot water and salt to the rice. Stir and cover with a lid and cook with medium beam.

Step 4

After absorbing water add all fruits slice, rose water, kewra, and sugar to the rice and stir it and spread mawa over the rice and cover the pan.

Step 5

Add green chili, cashew nut, and biryani masala to the rice and mix with rice gently. Then spread soaked saffron and raisin over the rice and cook with low beam.

Keep the rice with lid without heat for 5-10 minutes. Serve the delicious fruit pulao with chicken korma or roast.
